As a Faith Leader, you’ve got to be battle ready, perhaps now more than ever. A battalion of soldiers doesn’t wait to suit up until after their first casualty. They train and armor up before they are attacked, and that is what Faith Leaders must do now.
Paul told the church at Ephesus to put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11) The understood subject of the sentence in Ephesians 6:11 is you. You need to put on the whole armor of God, Faith Leader. Don’t look for angels to dress you for battle; you’ve got to do it yourself!
Truth at the Center
It begins with the belt of truth. Paul wrote, stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. (Ephesians 6:14) A person’s loins create the center of their body. The dictionary defines loins as the part of the body of a human or quadruped on either side of the backbone and between the ribs and hips. Paul was saying if you want to be battle ready, the truth must be the center of your being. Your life, power, and effectiveness come from the truth. But what is the truth? John 17:17 tells us God’s Word is truth. So, when he, she, it, they, or circumstances present challenges to your faith, go to the Truth-God’s Word and see what it says about the situation. Don’t go to CBS news, your momma, daddy, sister, brother, friend, racial or sexual group. Go to the Word. That is your first step in battle readiness.
Know Who You Are
The next step, according to Ephesians 6:14, is the breastplate of righteousness. In other words, you’ve got to know who you are. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. (2 Corinthians 5:21) You are not a wimpy Christian. You are supernatural. You pray in tongues. You do things Moses couldn’t do. You are in right standing with God Almighty! When you pray, you don’t have to go through anyone else; you have a direct line through the blood of Jesus, and God looks at you and says, “My child, what do you need?”
Walk in Peace and Put Faith First
Other parts of being battle ready include how you walk and how you lead. Ephesians 6:15-16 says your feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Paul instructed soldiers of God to walk in peace. The Greek word for peace is eirene. It means quietness and assurance. As you move forward in the assurance of victory in Christ, always lead with your shield of faith! The enemy should see your shield before he sees you! Faith is trust in God. It will extinguish every fiery dart Satan throws at you. Your faith shield should be coated in the flame-retardant Word of God. When the devil says, “I’m taking you out,” hold out your faith shield that says, No weapon that is formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and put out that fiery dart!
Think Right and Pray Right
Ephesians 6:17-20 tells us to complete battle readiness by adjusting our thinking and by praying effectual, fervent prayers that change things in the spiritual realm! It reads, And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Faith Leader- put on your helmet of salvation and think right! Stop thinking with your flesh and think the way God thinks. Then, pray in the Spirit; it is the perfect way to pray. How else could you pray for all saints except by the power of the Holy Ghost? Finally, pray for other Faith Leaders to remain battle ready and full of Holy Ghost ammunition, preaching the Word in boldness with signs following!
