Being a Child of God and Leading Children to God

Faith Leaders should always remember their primary role in the body of Christ. Whether you’re an apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher, or minister of helps, your essential position in the church is that of a child of God. As a CEO, COO, founder, or staff member in a ministry or business, it’s easy to become overly focused on budgets, deadlines, expectations, crowd size, ministry reach, and social media metrics. While all of these are important, the most crucial role we each have is being a child of God. The second priority for all of us should be leading others into the family of God; we are children of God leading children to God.

All Creations of God are Not Children of God

As we grasp the importance of being children of God, we may also gain a new perspective on success, leadership, and influence. Our assignments differ; our platforms include everything from living rooms to boardrooms to sanctuaries, but our Father remains the same. His heart is always focused on one thing: building His family.

Hebrews 2:10 says: For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

This is a confirmation of something John stated in his Gospel: All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3) In other words, everything, including every person on this earth, was created for Him and by Him. I’ve heard people say, “Everyone is a child of God,” but that is not true. Every individual is a creation of God, but not everyone is a child of God. John 1:12 tells us who can call themselves “children of God”: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

Choices

Although God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (John 3:16), each person must choose to believe in Him to become part of His family. The Father’s love is extravagant, but He never forces His love and salvation on anyone.

God has always prioritized choice. Why else would He have placed the tree in the Garden of Eden? He wanted Adam and Eve to choose to serve Him. Joshua emphasized this point in Joshua 24:15: And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Did you notice that Paul, whom I believe wrote the book of Hebrews, said the same thing in Hebrews 2:10? It states that Jesus would bring many sons to glory, not all of them. Even after someone is saved and becomes a child of God, they still have the choice to accept or reject everything offered through Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. As children of God and Faith Leaders, our job is to share the truth of God’s Word and all that is included in salvation- deliverance from sin, sickness, death, and poverty. Bringing many sons to glory means leading them to dignity, honor, and praise.

We can’t force anyone to accept salvation. Likewise, once they are saved, our role is to guide them toward experiencing the fullness of God’s blessings for us as His children. Whether they choose to join us and enjoy God’s glory here on earth as His children depends on them. Our responsibility, Faith Leader, is to share the message and lead them.
