Why are You Listening to the Devil?

Somebody called my wife and me the other day very upset about some things. As we listened to the caller express concern and anxiety, my wife spoke up. She asked a question that every one of us should keep in mind when going through difficult times: Why are you listening to the devil?

Truth is the Opposite of Anything the Devil Says

So, Leader – why are you listening to the devil? Jesus told us that the devil has no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it (John 8:44).

The truth is the opposite of anything the devil says. When he tells you to hide in fear, you should move forward with boldness. When he says you’ll never succeed, you can know that success is right around the corner. When he says there is no way, you need to remind him, yourself, and anyone listening that the way is already made.

A Promise for Everything

One of the reasons people listen to evil reports is because they don’t know any better. Hosea 4:6 says My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. God’s people need to know what God’s Word says so they can refute the lies of the enemy. God’s Word has a promise on the other side for everything the devil will ever say.

2 Peter 1:3 tells us, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.

In other words, the Bible has a promise that covers everything in life – and I mean everything. God’s Word has a promise about your money, health, safety, children, spouse, grandchildren, work, business, and community. Our job as Faith Leaders is to know those promises and teach them to others.

It’s Already Done – You’ve Already Won

One of the most transformation truths in the Word is found in Ephesians 1:3. It says,“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. “

Did Paul write that God would bless you someday in the sweet by and by? No! He said that you have already been blessed.

I can hear a lot of folks thinking, “Sure, Pastor. But it says I’ve been blessed with all spiritual blessing. I need some natural blessing.”

While natural needs may seem pressing, always remember that the natural world is not more real than the spiritual. God is a Spirit. As a Spirit, He created everything you see, smell, touch, feel, taste, and hear from spiritual substance. Therefore, spiritual things can change natural things. Hebrews 11:3 puts it this way: Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

We don't have to wait to get to heaven to win over sickness, fear, pain, grief, lack, or anything else! God is not surprised by your situation. He has already provided everything you need. It's time for you to stop listening to the devil and accept your victory. Receive it today. Say, “I’ve got the victory! It’s already done, and I've already won, in Jesus' name!"
